Buying a 2012 Ford Focus, and saving $1500 off of MSRP.
I was already sold on the vehicle from reviews/word of mouth. I was able to use the wholesale report to make the negotiation smooth and fast. I showed the report to the sales rep, told him exactly what markup I thought was fair, and explained how I arrived at a monthly payment that fit my budget, after trade-in, downpayment, etc. I told him I was not willing to budge from this monthly payment I had calculated, and left it to him and his manager to find the "wiggle room" in their calculations. Sticking to my plan was key. I was prepared to walk away from the deal if they weren't willing to accept my offer, which I thought was fair for both dealer and myself, the customer. Seems I was right!
