| Mark from Okotoks, AB reported on Tuesday, December 06, 2011, buying a 2011 BMW 3 Series, and saving $7,000 off of MSRP. I used the Wholesale Price Report Total $ minus freight, air, and dealer credits/cashback as a baseline and offered 4% of the resulting number as a profit margin for the dealer. Saved $6,700!! Great job CCC! | ![]() | |

| Jennifer from airdrie, AB reported on Friday, January 22, 2010, buying a 2010 BMW 3 Series, and saving $2,500 off of MSRP. Calgary BMW very professional, an overall great experience. Really didnt need to use [the WPR], once they knew that I had it, negotiations were much easier and pleasant. | ![]() | |
| Dustin from Calgary, AB reported on Saturday, April 24, 2010, buying a 2010 BMW 3 Series, and saving $9,000 off of MSRP. We waited as close as we could to the end of the month so that we could "help" the dealer hit their stretch monthly quota which encouraged them to reduce the price even more. | ![]() | |
| David from Red Deer, AB reported on Sunday, November 08, 2009, buying a 2010 BMW 3 Series, and saving $2,000 off of MSRP. I believe the Car Cost Canada report was a definite sign that we were really interested in getting a new car. | ![]() | |

| Mel from Redwood Meadows, AB reported on Tuesday, January 12, 2010, buying a 2010 BMW 3 Series, and saving $1,500 off of MSRP. Calgary has 2 dealerships, both owned by the same company. Therefore, the choice is limited. This dealership and sales rep was an introduction by my boss, who has previously purchased several BMWs from this dealership. I negotiated up from the wholesale price and always referred to the wholesale price, calculating the markup from that with each offer that I made and the counteroffers made by the sales rep; who always stressed the "savings" from the MSRP. I made the first offer with a 6% markup. When he said that we were close with his counteroffer, I politely countered that I wasn't so sure about "close" with his 10.5% markup and suggested 8% instead. That was accepted. We clearly both knew what each was doing and kept it cool. | ![]() | |

| Robert from Calgary, AB reported on Wednesday, August 04, 2010, buying a 2009 BMW 3 Series, and saving $5,000 off of MSRP. By telling the sales manager I was a Carcostcanada user she gave me a 3% (3.5%?) discount without any negotiations. | ![]() | |

| Johnny from Calgary, AB reported on Sunday, April 13, 2008, buying a 2008 BMW 3 Series, and saving $4,000 off of MSRP. Because I was at a professional organisation's networking event, I was able to discover that there was another person that was also looking to buy a similar car. It has great advantages to go together and use the buying power of 2 vehicles on the same 'sales call'. I also found out that you can take your time and walk away and come back with a counter offer. It doesn't have to be 'on the spot' but keep in mind as long as you are willing to work with them (sales guy) they will compromise as well. I also found that even though the report says that you are to speak to these individuals specifically, the dealer will still 'pass' you to someone else and act on their behalf. This is my first experience with this service and I am quite happy. I had some problems with the website (after I paid and signed up) late at night and was bummed out that when I called customer service, it was just an answering service and they have no power except to take a message. But the next morning someone did call me back and the website was working again and I was able to get the correct MSRP. My biggest advice is to do all your homework and make sure you get this report at least a week or two in advance to let the data sink in with your strategy. I forgot to show the sale person the report and you should show the report at the beginning to show good intent and that you really did do a lot of homework. This shows them that you are a serious buyer and they will make some effort. Another advice: The after sales selling, that price is negotiable when you are talking to the sales person NOT to the finance person. Let the sales person go on your behalf to bring some of the prices down BEFORE you agree to buy the car. The sales person has more to lose than the finance because the sales guy wants to sell the car, when you get to the finance person, they already sold the car so you lose your advantage. | ![]() | |

| Bhullar from Calgary, AB reported on Friday, July 04, 2008, buying a 2008 BMW 3 Series, and saving $2,500 off of MSRP. The wholesale report didn't really help me in my negotiations, but it gave me an idea of what the actual dealer cost is of the vehicle and its options. I think for that reason and in this prticular instance, it was beneficial in that way. But in terms of bargaining power, I don't think it really helped. | ![]() | |

| Chris from Calgary, AB reported on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, buying a 2011 BMW 5 Series, and saving $5,000 off of MSRP. They did ignore Canada Car Cost. I ended up demanding a discount equivalent to Fleet Rate (5% or about half way between Dealer invoice and list as indicated by Car Cost) and got it as I would have walked. | ![]() | |

| Robert from Calgary, AB reported on Thursday, March 31, 2011, buying a 2011 BMW X3, and saving $2,000 off of MSRP. The X3 is a brand new model, and in high demand, so there wasn't a large margin of bargaining room. They were responsive to me because I am a repeat customer, and they were aware of, and considered the Car Cost process. So there was a straight forward willingness to slide down to the 5% range for dealer mark up above wholesale. The general manager, and sales consultant were accomodating, informative and very amicable. | ![]() | |
