The B-Class is well into its 2nd generation and selling well. It gets a standard 2.0L turbo four with 208-hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, plus a 7-speed auto with standard paddles, and the choice of FWD or…

2016 Mercedes-Benz B250 4Matic Sports Tourer Road Test Review

I like cars that don't quite fit into the usual mould, and Mercedes' B-Class fitting that description perfectly. Call it a tall wagon, a crossover SUV, or an MPV as they like to in Europe, but just don't call it inflexible. It's one part style, one part sport, and at least two parts utility, our Canadian-spec B250 a fabulously functional compact that attracts busy families as easily as active empty nesters.

I have a confession. I didn't like the B-Class all that much the year it was introduced, but Mercedes addressed most of my complaints the following year and I soon began to appreciate its many merits. As for this latest iteration, it's so dramatically improved I've become an unabashed fan. From styling to interior quality, features to the way it drives, the second-generation B250 4Matic Sports Tourer I recently tested is a true testament to why Mercedes' is the auto industry's bestselling luxury marque.

You can tell a lot about a brand's core values when spending Read Full Story

2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe Road Test Review

Mercedes-Benz has long had a following for the sophisticated coupes they've produced over the years. Outside of the über priced classics, a few modern favourites are the 1980s 560 SEC, 1990s E-Class Coupe, and 2000s CLK.

Fast forward to 2017 and there are still tasty coupes on the Benz menu. The S-Class Coupe is a world beater, the AMG GT will leave smoking tire rubber in a straight line for hundreds of feet and the E-Class Coupe represents mid-luxury comfort and performance set to a near S-Class standard.

Just southeast of Quebec and to the left of New Brunswick lies idyllic Maine, a U.S. state also known for lighthouses, wonderful small towns and lobster. Yes, Homarus americanus is a "to die for" gift from the deep seas of the North Atlantic Ocean. It was in Portland, Maine that Mercedes-Benz launched the newest coupe to the family, the 2017 C 300. Of course, one begs to ask: Can the new C-Class Coupe keep the Mercedes-Benz tradition of two-door hardtop excellence Read Full Story
C’mon, we know you want one. There’s something utterly virile about Mercedes’ G-Class, its G55 AMG being the most potent statement of masculinity yet, in North America at least. Now those on the…

Mercedes to bring G65 AMG to North American market for 2016

It would be an understatement to say that Mercedes-Benz has its crossover and SUV segments covered. In fact, it doesn't only cover the basics, with vehicles like the GLK in the compact segment, ML in the mid-size category and GL in the full-size seven-passenger arena, but on top of these more familiar sizes a new smaller compact GLA crossover is currently arriving at Canadian M-B dealers nationwide, plus, of course, it has long provided the iconic G-Class, one of the best off-roaders available anywhere.

Of course, Mercedes offers each model in a variety of trim levels, all of the above except for the GLK available in very sporting top-tier AMG guise. Prior to the 2013 model year the G55 AMG was the only Aufrecht, Melcher and Großaspach-tuned G-Class available, but that all changed when the Affalterbach, Baden-Württemberg-housed division replaced the 5.5-litre V8 in the G55 AMG with a ridiculously powerful V12 and dubbed it G65 AMG. So far Mercedes hasn't offered this Read Full Story

Mercedes-Benz offers minor updates for 2015 CLS-Class

The car that initiated the four-door coupe craze back in 2004 gets a number of subtle modifications for 2015, five years after its complete redesign in 2010.

First off, the car's interior benefits from a new three-spoke steering wheel and an eight-inch floating infotainment display screen, while passing admirers will be able to take note of a new front bumper that employs larger air intakes and above these, a new Multibeam LED headlamp system that incorporates 24 individual projectors joined up to a camera system that shows the road ahead illuminated in as many as 255 stages of brightness (one at a time, of course), for the best in night driving clarity without blinding oncoming motorists.

As for powertrain options, mums the word as to what we'll get here in Canada. Currently, only Mercedes' twin-turbocharged V8 is available in two stages of tune, starting with a 402-horsepower 4.6-litre variant in the CLS 550, followed up by a 550-horsepower 5.5-litre unit in the CLS Read Full Story

2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG 4Matic Road Test Review

Is it remarkable that the first four-cylinder production engine offered by AMG would also be the most powerful production four-cylinder engine ever offered en masse-period? After all, AMG is known for turning each Mercedes product it gets its hands on up to 11 on a scale of 10, so why expect anything less?

Hand built, the 355 horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder installed in the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG 4Matic does indeed boast the distinction of being the most powerful production four-cylinder engine ever offered for mainstream public consumption. Generating 332 ft-lbs of torque, the engine is teamed with a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox and all-wheel drive.

To get the 2.0-litre mill to pump power so prodigiously, the speed-crazed engineering team at AMG prescribed a twin-scroll turbocharger producing some 26-psi of boost-along with direct fuel injection and variable valve timing. Optimal density of the intake charge is ensured with a water to air intercooler, Read Full Story
