I’m crazy about the colour blue.
Blue Jeans, blue shirts, even blue shoes. Yeah, I have a pair of blue suede shoes, precisely because of Elvis’ song.
I currently drive a navy blue car, specifically a Mazda 3. I’ve been driving a Mazda 3 for several years because I know how it handles and how the infotainment system works. I’m not a person who likes changes.
Given my choice, I’d prefer a black Mazda 3. Black had been my colour of choice for cars because, well, black cars look better in the shade, to quote a song by Gino Vanelli. Hopefully you’re old enough to remember the song.
But I digress.

After turning in my black Mazda 3 when the lease expired, I was ready for another one, but I was told I’d have to wait awhile because there wasn’t any available, but if I wanted a blue one the dealership could source one in a few days.
I just decided to go blue. There’s nothing particularly fascinating about the colour, but it looks okay, particularly when it’s clean.
So when the lease expired, I purchased the car outright.
For the past two weeks, I’ve been going to malls, where I source many ideas for cars, including customized licence plates, looking at different brands and trims. I also do the same with cars parked in driveways and streets.
I’ve also been researching the various shades of blue – and there are many. It’s not just blue. There is royal blue, navy blue, baby blue, blue velvet, steel blue, teal, cosmic turquoise, electric blue, aqua blue, arctic blue, dark quasar blue, geyser, midnight blue pearl, fluorescent blue, indigo, robin egg blue, steel blue, crush, dolphin blue, sky blue, sonic, Antarctic Blue, deep water blue, Bonsai Beach blue, frost, thunder, velocity and even Mexico – and that’s not even including metallic blue. I’m sure there are more shades.
According to a 2024 Edmunds report, the most popular car colors are white (25%), black), (22%), Gray (20%), Silver (14%) and Blue (9%).
I did a video last year with Christine Mitchell, The Car Lady, and she told me a medium fortune teller told her that people who drive blue cars have the purest of hearts.
She also said a medium fortune teller told her that people who drive blue cars have the purest of hearts.
So here’s a collection of my car and several other blue ones from various manufacturers. I like to call it 50 Shades Of Blue Cars, sort of.
I must admit I really like baby blue and ocean blue.
But I also like blue cars with a black rooftop, especially the new Subaru Outback and Crosstrek, Ford Bronco, Jeep Compass and Jeep Limited.
To be honest, I can’t really tell the difference, only that I find them all attractive, and it seems to me manufacturers are becoming really creative. Perhaps in the post COVID era in which manufacturers have an abundance of products, they are experimenting with different colors, or blue has become quite fashionable.
I also like Hyundai’s Elantra N in powder blue. It reminds me of the colour of the uniforms of the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League in the 70s,
Do you drive a blue car or fancy one?
