It’s been the talk of the superfast crowd since Lexus introduced it to Detroit auto show goers last year, and now the fabulous new RC F sport coupe is upon us and it has certainly lives up to the hype.…

2015 Lexus RC F Road Test Review

The last time Lexus made an ultra-powerful sports coupe its stratospheric price tag was close to $400,000 and its availability very limited. The 2012 LFA should more accurately be categorized as a supercar than a sports coupe, yet many of the highly coveted model's design cues and technologies can be seen in Lexus' latest super-coupe, the much more affordable RC F, which to some may look more appealing and dare I say even drive better than the LFA.

The RC F bowed to much enthusiasm at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last year, but now that it's out here on the street it seems that past praise didn't do it full justice. This rakish two-door looks even better next to its competition than it did on the rotating show stand. Lexus took everything we already loved about the long, low, wide-track RC 350, accentuated it, muscled it up, optionally layered on carbon-fibre outside and within, upgraded an already beautifully executed cabin with an exclusive colour scheme, Read Full Story
The personal sports coupe segment might not be the largest or most profitable for premium nameplates, but it’s critically important for building brand loyalty as it targets true performance car fans…

2015 Lexus RC 350 AWD Road Test Review

Lexus' IS lineup has included a sedan and retractable hardtop convertible for some time, but no fixed hardtop two-door model. And this while its premium competitors clean up in the personal sports coupe segment.

Audi has its A5/S5 coupes, BMW its legendary 3 Series/M3 Coupe, which was recently renamed 4 Series/M4, not to mention a slightly smaller 2 Series two-door, and Mercedes-Benz added a C-Class Coupe to its lineup a few years back. Lexus' Japanese rival Infiniti has long offered the G35/G37 Coupe, now dubbed Q60, while Cadillac gives North American patriots (and other global patrons) the option of a very stylish ATS Coupe as well as the new Chevrolet Volt-based electrified ELR coupe. Even Land Rover makes a "sport coupe" with its two-door Range Rover Evoque, not to mention new premium four-door coupes are available from luxury brands in the compact segment. Yes, it's about time Lexus anted up with a compact sports coupe of its own.

2015 Lexus GS 350 AWD F Sport Road Test Review

When the GS sedan was redesigned for the 2013 model year it made a dramatic statement, especially for a mid-size Lexus. Sure it is Lexus' performance-oriented midsize model, so it should look more aggressive than the comfort-biased ES, per se, but its new spindle-shaped grille was even more provocative than the nose on the Japanese premium brand's exotic LFA supercar.

That spindle grille has now become the brand's trademark look, showing up on everything from the best-selling RX crossover SUV to the aforementioned ES sedan, making the latter look uncomfortably similar to the pricier GS. This in mind, the comparatively radical IS sport sedan and near over-the-top NX compact crossover are so compelling that, dare I say, the GS almost looks staid and conservative in comparison, even in top-line F Sport trim. Don't get me wrong as I still think it's an attractive sport-luxury sedan that's easily as alluring as most rivals, but I wouldn't put it past Lexus to go even edgier when the Read Full Story

2015 Lexus NX 200t F Sport Road Test Review

What does NX stand for? According to Lexus it's short for "Nimble Crossover", a fitting name or so I found out after a weeklong test drive. As for me, the NX represents what's NeXt in the premium compact crossover segment, a vehicle that's been a long time coming and one that was well worth the wait.

At first glance you'll notice it's hardly a "me too" design. If they were to offer it in bright orange, lime green or matte black it might cause some to expect a Lamborghini badge on the hood and tailgate, and even when sprayed in more conservative hues many will be shocked to see Lexus' familiar circled "L" right in the middle of its strikingly bold spindle-shaped grille. Revealed almost a year ago at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, the NX is no wallflower.

My tester was done up in top-line F Sport trim, an even more aggressively penned alternative. Its chiseled design looks as if it was shaped from a scalpel, starting with the top outward edges of that Read Full Story

2015 Lexus CT 200h F Sport Road Test Review

Last year the CT 200h received Lexus' new trademark spindle grille, and the resultant new look is so strong, so unique, so definitive, so undeniably Lexus that the entire car looks reshaped and ultimately reborn.

My 2014 CT 200h tester was in Premium trim, two positions up from base, while this time around I'm back in top-line F Sport trim. The last time I covered a CT 200h F Sport was 2012, and after reviewing the old photos it looks decidedly bland in comparison this new 2015 version, despite being coated in the same F Sport-exclusive Ultrasonic Blue Mica paint. Adding the new spindle grille made the CT's update more of an extreme facelift than just a mid-cycle makeover, at least up front. The car's rear end design as updated too, albeit more subtly, but truly it didn't need as much of a redesign as it's always been appealing in a hunkered down sporty way.

Although a five-door hatchback, or Sportback as Lexus likes to define it, this long, low and lean body style Read Full Story
