Ford is all about fuel-economy lately, without sacrificing performance.  At least that’s what its latest ads point out, and the new 2011

Mustang V6 is a prime example.

Not only does the new Mustang V6 deliver a robust 305-horsepower, but the latest pony car’s baseline engine achieves the EPA estimated equivalent of 12.4 L/100km in the city and 7.6 L/100km on the highway!  That makes it the most fuel-efficient 300-plus horsepower car ever produced.

“Advanced powertrains like our Ti-VCT V-6 and six-speed automatic really speak to the future of Mustang,” says Barb Samardzich, Ford vice president of Global Powertrain Engineering. “We've proven that, using technology, Ford can deliver both power and fuel economy.”

new 3.7-litre six gets its best fuel economy from the optional six-speed automatic, but a six-speed manual comes standard and still manages a very impressive 7.8 L/100km on the highway.

Also aiding fuel economy, the 2011 Mustang V6 features electric power steering as well as aerodynamic improvements, including a revised front fascia, tire spats on the rear wheels, reworked underbody shields, a taller air dam, and an additional rear decklid seal.
