I did not know that you "haggle" over purchasing a new car the same way as you pruchase a house. You put in "offers". Members should know that e.g. floor mats are extra and build the cost of them into the negotiations. I also included the rust protection. There should be a list of items that the purchaser should know that exist and include them all to prevent surprises later (like $60 for full gas tank). There could be a section that would show a sample negotiations with a dealer for both new and used car. |  | |

It definitely helped although I eventually signed the lease agreement without seeing the price the lease payments were based on because they did a bit of smoke and mirrors around pricing. The person filling out the lease application was trying to push some third party services and lied about the warranty and features of the car in order for those third party services to seem beneficial. I don't remember how much I saved. It was significant enough saving to justify the price of the carcost membership. I tried Queensway Volkswagen, too. After they agreed to the carcost price, they told me they didn't have the car in stock. They did have a car with one extra option. They claimed they would throw in that option for half price. They then tried to throw the CarCost deal out and make up all their own numbers. The final price for the same car, with one extra $300 option (they were going to provide that option for $150) was $950 above the carcost price. I think it's called bait & switch. | | |
