Buying a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and saving $7000 off of MSRP.
Tom has a no pressure technique. He let us discover for ourselves that this was the right vehicle. The vehicle had what we wanted and was available. The price range was affordable. They didn't try and "hide" the discounts available and offered them right up front in our first meeting then the second meeting, We told him we had done our research and offered a fair price right up front for no hassles. Dealers often confuse customers with mixing numbers in the negotiations. We took the fixed costs off the negotiating table right up front (air tax, etc) and therefore only negotiated on the variable costs that included the trade in. They factor the trade in value in their potential profit, so we included it. Our price was offered including the trade in. I had done up a spreadsheet in case that showed multiple profit cases in case we needed it. It showed base cost, extras, total, total discounts, net price, taxable fees, taxes, non-taxable fees, deposit, financed amount and monthly payment.
