I had the Car Cost report and had prepared a chart with wholesale price (less the cash incentive), freight and PDI as well as AC and tire taxes. I then added what I was willing to pay for the dealer profit and came to a total. I told the salesman that I was going to call 3 Acura dealers with the same information and the first dealership to accept my price would have a deal. He accepted and I then made arrangement to trade in my old Acura making sure that I got a good price according to the Black Book Value.

Make sure your #''s are correct and find out in advance what the dealers typically mark-up thier vehicles. Acura seems to mark up at 8% above what the report says most dealers do.

Bruce from Mississauga, ON reported on Thursday, January 06, 2011, buying a 2011 Acura MDX, and saving $8,000 off of MSRP.
Walked in, had my file with all the reports, had been to several other manufactureres showrooms, had one vehical on hold at another dealership in the area. I was open and honest - showed him the report, he was happy that I did my homework, he found the vehical we were after in inventory, gave us the keys to test drive it, found that the mfg rebates were actually $500 more than what was indicated on the report and we signed in 20 minutes.

Wholesale Price report was invaluable in the negotiation which was quite simple and easy given the information I had. Dealer was also reasonable knowing that we both had the same info

jim from fort saskatchewan, AB reported on Tuesday, July 06, 2010, buying a 2010 Acura MDX, and saving $9,000 off of MSRP.
Offered dealership $1000 profit on a cash deal (invoice - rebate + profit) and said was non-negotiable. I had a similar offer from an APA dealer so was not willing to negotiate. Dealership accepted the offer. Turned down the VIN number stamping and all other add-ons. VIN numbers came on the vehicle anyway. Dealership also threw in wheel locks and first oil change (std offering).

I took my CarCostCanada report and very clearly displayrd it on the table as I negotiated my price. The sales rep was consequently honest about the vehicle's wholesale price and I then negotiated a price that was $1200 above (giving them a 2.5% profit margin).

- The closer to the end of the month you buy the car, the better. - The closer to the model year change you buy the car, the larger the factory incentives. - Sometimes dealers do not have sufficient inventory and you are forced to wait. Be prepared for this. They use this as an excuse to give you a car with higher mileage. Make sure you have a rental or your old car so you can wait it out. Insist the car should have less than 40 Kms and also put in a clause that you will get any additional incentives that are made available during the waiting period. I could have saved a further $1,000 had I thought of this.

Sarabjeet from North York, ON reported on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, buying a 2009 Acura TSX, and saving $1,500 off of MSRP.
I met Leo about 8 years ago and kept in touch with him. I bought several cars from him, either me, my family or friends. He already gave me a good deal on TSX and I verified that by checking carcost prices. I also mentioned to him that I was a member of carcost. Everytime I've mentioned to any car dealer that I was a member of carcost and whether they work with carcost prices, they've always given me discounts right away. :-)
